Lions Tigers and Bears

This website was conceived with pen and paper, and was designed and built in the browser using several technologies and toolstacks that I shall list in more detail below.

The 3D scenes on the homepage were hand-crafted using Blender 2.8.3, and were exported to WebGL using Babylon.js. The scrolling animations were scripted using GSAP.

The website's backend is built using Gatsby, which is a static site generator built on top of React.js. It uses webpack to compile, compress and optimise every last bit of front-end code into a neat directory of HTML and JS files.

Some of the site's content is generated using Markdown format, more specifically, MDX, which is a hybrid of Markdown and JSX, allowing the use of react components inside markdown files.

Typography wise, I'm using Google Fonts' Poppins font-family.

The site is hosted on Dreamhost, using Cloudflare for loadbalancing/caching. The SSL certificate is provided through Let's Encrypt.

I used several technologies, open-source tools, libraries and frameworks in the development of this site.

  • Javascript/ECMAScript 6 (ES6)
  • HTML5
  • SCSS
  • MDX

Here are some of the major Javascript libraries I used:

  • Gatsby
  • React.js
  • Node.js
  • Webpack
  • Babylon.js

  • Blender
  • Unity 3D
  • Visual Studio Code
  • Inkscape
  • Adobe Photoshop
